More Than Birthdays
While birthdays are our largest project throughout the year, we have many other important days in the lives of local youth in foster care to celebrate during the year too.
Graduation
If you check out the statistics on youth in foster care and graduation rates, you will find that the odds are stacked against them. For the past 3 years we have been honored to support local youth with no one to celebrate their high school graduation. We believe youth beating the odds deserve to be reminded of their worth!
Reunification Day
Last year we were honored to help celebrate families who had been reunified in the past year after experiencing the foster care system. We believe families being together is a huge milestone that deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated. Our organization provided family fun activities to encourage families to simply have fun together!
Holidays
When we became aware that some children in our community would not receive gifts for the holidays, our amazing supporters stepped in to individually celebrate 116 kids! This was a huge undertaking for our small organization but we were proud that RVA stepped up to make it possible!
Social Worker Support
Throughout the year we have supported social workers working with young people in foster care. These amazing individuals are often over-worked and under-paid yet are doing incredibly important work. We believe they deserve to know they, too, are worthy!
